CHESTER COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION NAMES GEORGE ZUMBANO PRESIDENT
West Chester, PA - January 26, 2010 - The Chester County Bar Association (CCBA) has named George C. Zumbano as President. An attorney with the West Chester-based law firm of Gawthrop Greenwood, he has served as a member of the CCBA Board of Directors since 2003, previously serving as President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer. He is a past Chairman of the association's Young Lawyers Division, and is a past recipient of the CCBA President's Award.
Zumbano joined Gawthrop Greenwood in 1981. His broad practice base includes trial work in federal and state courts, business and corporation matters, family law, personal injury, malpractice, education law, discrimination, employment and personnel matters. He also handles toxic tort and environmental cases, and is frequently appointed as an arbitrator for cases such as business disputes and under- or uninsured motorist claims. (www.gawthrop.com)
A 1971 graduate of Bowling Green University, Zumbano earned his law degree from Villanova University in 1975. He is admitted to the Bars of the United States Supreme Court; United States 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals; United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; New Jersey; and Pennsylvania.
In addition to the CCBA, Zumbano is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Trial Lawyer's Association, and American Association for Justice.
His community involvement includes: current Secretary of the Board of the Chester County Historical Society; West Chester Area School District Board of Directors (ten years, four as President); Friends Association for Care and Protection of Children Board of Directors; Holcomb Behavioral Systems Inc. (past President). In 1992 he received the Unsung Heroes Award from the League of Women Voters of Central Chester County. He and his wife Gerri live in Westtown Township.
