CHESTER COUNTY VOLUNTEER ENGLISH PROGRAM RE-ELECTS DAVID GARRISON PRESIDENT

West Chester, PA - March 5, 2009 - David A. Garrison has been re-elected to serve a second one-year term as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Volunteer English Program in Chester County (VEP). An attorney with the West Chester-based law firm of Gawthrop Greenwood, he has served as a member of VEP's board since 2002.

A 1986 graduate of Old Dominion University, Garrison earned his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1989. After working for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Stevens & Lee, he joined Gawthrop Greenwood in 2004, where he is a Partner and Chair of the Environmental Law Practice Group. His practice includes air, land, water and indoor air matters for a variety of private and public clients.

"In 2008, VEP worked closely with the Philadelphia Foundation to assess and enhance the operation, and 2009 finds VEP building upon those efforts in order to meet the growing need," said Garrison. In addition to the Volunteer English Program, Garrison serves on the Chester County Agricultural Development Council and the Board of Green Valleys Association.

Founded in 1904, Gawthrop Greenwood comprises 23 attorneys concentrating in comprehensive practice areas including business transactions, litigation, tax and estate planning, environmental issues, elder law, special education, real estate, family law, employment law, municipal law, land use and government relations.
