GAWTHROP GREENWOOD WELCOMES STEPHEN G. RHOADS
West Chester, PA — August 5, 2009 — Stephen G. Rhoads has joined the Chester County law firm of Gawthrop Greenwood as a partner, concentrating his practice in professional liability defense and commercial litigation. (www.gawthrop.com)
Previously a partner with Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP, he serves as trial counsel to numerous medical and allied professionals and healthcare facilities in malpractice actions, to real estate and insurance agents, to school, municipal and prison officials, and in various licensing proceedings before the Pennsylvania Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs. He regularly appears in state and federal courts throughout Pennsylvania and has considerable experience in the defense of asbestos-in-buildings and other toxic tort claims. Also an advocate of alternative dispute resolution, he has mediated various professional liability claims and construction defect disputes on behalf of contractors and engineers.
A member of the Chester County, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, Rhoads also is a member of the Insurance Committee and the Professional Liability Committee of the Defense Research Institute. Active in his Chester County community, he serves on the West Pikeland Township Zoning Hearing Board.
Rhoads earned a B.A. cum laude in Sociology and an M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Development from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, and is a founder and board member of the St. Lawrence Alumni Lawyers Association. He received his J.D. from the New England School of Law in Boston.
