GAWTHROP GREENWOOD WELCOMES LEONARD R. OLSEN, JR.
West Chester, PA - April 23, 2009 - Leonard R. Olsen, Jr. has joined Chester County law firm Gawthrop Greenwood, concentrating his practice in wills, trusts and other estate planning instruments, and advising clients on commercial transactions and income tax matters.
Olsen earned a B.A. in English from Rutgers University, his J.D. (cum laude) from Rutgers University School of Law where he was an editor of the Law Review, and an L.L.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law. He also holds a Certificate in Estate Planning from the Graduate Tax Division of Villanova University School of Law.
Prior to joining Gawthrop Greenwood, Olsen was General Counsel of XL Environmental and its predecessor, ECS, Inc. He also was Executive Vice President of International Operations for ECS. Prior to ECS, he was in private practice in New York and Philadelphia. He began his legal career with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and later was a partner at Battle Fowler, both of New York City. More recently, he was a partner at Blank Rome in Philadelphia.
A member of the Chester County Estate Planning Council, Olsen belongs to several bar associations, including the American Bar Association and Chester County Bar Association. He is also a Trustee of the Chester Springs Library and is currently President of this organization. Mr. Olsen formerly served on the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Outward Bound Center. Born in Philadelphia and raised in southern New Jersey, Olsen lives in Chester Springs, PA.
